Re-Entry Resource Fair
The Central Arkansas Re-Entry Coalition is sponsoring a "Re-Entry Resource Fair" to connect those recently released from prison and their families with rehabilitation, employment, training and other support-service providers in Central Arkansas.
This is the second of such Resource Fairs to be organized in Little Rock and this event will be on Monday, March 12, 2012 and is open free of charge to the public from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled (AEDD) Multi-Purpose Center located 105 East Roosevelt Road.
"We are truly appreciative to our friends at AEDD for allowing us to host this important event in their wonderful new facility" said Satori Barnes, a U.S. Probation Officer who is on a team helping to coordinate this event.
The first reentry resource fair organized by the Central Arkansas Re-Entry Coalition was held October 23, 2010 at the Canvas Community Church and filled the facility to overflow capacity. This year organizers are anticipating a crowd of 300-500 people to attend this event.
"This resource fair is important because it gives those who are formerly incarcerated an opportunity on one day in one place connection with some of the leader service providers in our city who can offer their council, recommendations, and guidance related to all of the important barriers they are experiencing as they strive to start a new life back in the free world" said Jeff Spry, Executive Director of City Connections who is also on the team helping to coordinate this event.
Some of the service providers who will be present at this event are Goodwill Industries, Quality Living Center, Sober Living, Labor Ready, Lewis-Burnett Employment Finders, Little Rock Community Mental Health, Pulaski Tech College, Oxford Houses, Family Service Agency, The Arkansas Office of Child Support Enforcement. We anticipate 40-50 exhibitors to be participating in the event.
